1.) Don't try to tie them

These covers work great but you can't use them by tying them. You need to remove the seat of your chair. This is simple, it will either pull up or just loosen the screws that hold it on. First cut off those annoying ties. Then just like a gift, wrap the seat and staple it into the bottom of the seat. You must use a utility (heavy duty) stapler. After stapling the first side, pull the opposite side very taut and staple. Continue for all four sides. Its a little extra work but it looks much better and the cover lasts for a long while. I'm just replacing mine now after 2 1/2 years. It really is simple, I'm a real klutz and not handy at all and I can do it. I recommend it to all people with cloth seats and young children.

The vinyl is crystal clear, sturdy and flexible but still maintains it's shape after it has been sat upon. The covers perform exactly the service for which I purchased them - to keep cat fur off the upholstery and provide an easily cleanable surface. I would purchase them again.

I read another reviewer's opinion. You can't use these the way they're sold. I actually removed the cushion from the chair, very easy, just turn the chair upside down and unscrew 4 screws that attach the cushion to the chair. I then used a professional stapler from Sears and just attached the plastic and stapled it underneath. It was like wrapping a present. It took about 1 1/2hours. I even did it for my friend. I have toddlers so this is great. Just wipe & clean

Listen to everyone's advice and take off the ineffective plastic ties, flip the cushion over and staple the plastic to it. I never do any handy work and this was very very easy to do. If you can stretch plastic with your hands and staple things you can do this. My husband happened to have a heavy duty staple gun on hand and we just went to the hardware store and bought a small box of staples. I look at my chairs now and I love it! The plastic is very very clear and they look professionally done.

This is the second time I have ordered these (I cannot locate my "extras" put away in storage" and I think they are terrific if you have young, messy eaters. Forget using the ties: I use safety pins to fold/tuck/anchor each corner of the chair and they stay secure and work great! Will definitely continue to use these as long as I have "dribblers".

The vinyl chair protectors I bought to cover my dining room chairs are great. I don't have to worry about the kids spilling drinks or food on them and staining the original ivory cushion underneath. Its easy to clean if anything is spilled on it.

This is a great chair cover! I purchased eight for my formal dining room chairs that have white, silk fabric cushions and they serve their purpose marvelously. They keep the cat hair and stains off. The ties don't bother me and I do not think they look cheap. I could see how they would not be used for everyday use.

These clear vinyl chair protectors are great for keeping spills off my upholstered kitchen chairs. All three of my children have spilled at one time or another and there's no worries since it falls right onto these chair protectors. I purchased our current ones about 9 months ago and unfortunately these don't last very long b/c they slip and slide when they move around getting up and down from their chairs and the plastic straps eventually tear off. I do admit that they're not very attractive either but the upside is that my chairs have stayed looking brand new. Every household with small children should invest in several packages! Definitely worth the money.

These covers are good for our family because of the toddlers. The excess strips of plastic that hang down are fun for the cat, but unnecessary for the rest of us.

Once we discovered how to unscrew the chair pads, we were ready to roll!

believe it or not, I searched domestic store websites and stores for months before I finally found these, I wanted something that would protect the fabric, not just cover it, these are great, and I use nicer looking covers on top. They don't stay in place well with the bigger chairs I have, but they are better than nothing, and I just adjust them after the kids get in and out of the chairs, and they're fine, they are find in the chairs that the kids don't climb in and out of. Good buy, buy it.

I just finished having the chairs in my kitchen re-upholstered. My kids are just kids--they spill. So, I ordered these vinyl chair covers to protect the new fabric. They certainly do the job. Not only are they designed to tailor-fit any chair, can be tied securely in place, they simply wipe clean. Best of all, they are very inexpensive. This is one of the best purchases I'll ever make!!

I like that they cover the chairs cloth top completely. The only thing I do not like is the fact that there is no way to connect the sides. This leaves the temptation for my 2 year old to pull the sides up.

My only regret is that I didn't wrap my chairs when they were new. I took the chair seat off and wrapped it over it which gives a more professional look. I now have peace of mind and never worry that my kids are going to spill food on my chairs. It is value for money.

I just had my dining room chairs recovered and did not want to have stains, so I purchased these covers and they work very well. I only gave them 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that the ties are not the best. I attached each tie together using two-sided tape and so far they have stayed.

You get what you pay for with this product. Both covers tore a the corners and one tie broke off. In all fairness they do get heavy use; I use them under my kids booster seats. But still, you'd think they'd last longer than six months.

I like that these covers do keep the kids chairs clean, but they don't stay tied and they didn't lay nicely along the front of the chair. I had to use some packing tape on mine to make fitted corners so that the covers didn't stick out and move all around when getting on and off the chair. I'm not comforable taking my nice chairs apart like one of the other reviews suggested, so these will have to do for now. They serve their purpose, but I'm still looking for a better alternative.

Chair protectors are of good material but attaching them to the chair seat does not work. Had to use tape and corners were hard to work with and they don't look anything like the picture. There were no explesive instructions.

These covers are just ok. This is the second time I've purchased them. The straps will eventually break.

The funny thing is, I didn't realize I was buying the same ones as last time. I was looking for something better. Why is it so hard to find good strong chair covers (that are clear)?? I search all over the web and come up with very little.

Would I buy these again? Probably, since I can't find anything better. My complaint with these is the slits in all four corners. They are there so that they can open up at the corners of your chairs. The problem is that each little slit will open and expose your chairs cushions (or whatever is underneath).

We bought a cover for our cream dining chair for our 3 year old to sit on. They don't stay in place and the ties loosen repeatedly so that he can easily untie and pull it off or just pull it up and out of the way. It looks messy on - I knew it would look like a plastic cover - but it's very bunched and loose. I was hoping it would work, but ended up being a waste of money. We're going to just end up recovering the chairs in a more kid friendly fabric.

After purchasing a new dining set with white fabric on the seat cushion I purchased these chair protectors. They do not stay in place at all. They are cheaply made and I doubt they will hold up long. The ties are also vinyl so it's impossible to keep them tied--hence why they didn't stay in place. The other reviewer is right--they look very tacky as well. I returned them and purchased chair pads with the non slip backing to place on the kids chairs. A little more pricey, but I'm sure in the long run I'll be saving since they will last much longer. They're also much easier to use since there are no ties and more appealing to the eye. Another big plus is the chair pads give my 5 yr old an added boost at the table.

After reading the reviews, I decided to look into doing this myself. I went to JoAnn Fabrics and bought thick clear vinyl by the yard for about $2 a yard. One and a half yards will cover 4-6 chairs. You can just take the chair cover off and staple the plastic to the bottom of the chair, which according to the reviews you would have to do anyway.

Don't waste your time ordering plastic chair covers. They will not stay on and when you sit on the chair they will slide. Not attractive at all. Take my advice and figure out something else.
